Distinguished Municipal Attorney Award Nomination Entry

The Distinguished Municipal Attorney Award was established to honor municipal attorneys who have reached the highest level of professional accomplishment, in the representation of cities or villages and contribution to other municipal attorneys through participation in and service to professional organizations such as the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys (MAMA) and the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA).

Criteria for Nomination

1. The nominee should be a municipal attorney who has achieved the highest level of professional accomplishment in the representation of their city or village.
2. Assistance to other municipal attorneys through participation in the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, IMLA, the State Bar or other professional associations.
3. Successful representation of municipal interests before courts of Michigan. Demonstration of skills as an advocate of municipal causes.
4. Demonstration of leadership.
5. Scholarship.
6. Demonstration of integrity and dedication.
7. Efforts in planning and executing municipal projects.
8. Contributions in a broad range of community services.
9. Awards and honors received, including fellowships and scholarships.
10. Other special contributions or attributes.
